Newly Renovated Walk-Up Condos in West Waikiki
According to “Honolulu” Magazine, “Remember the cluster of old, dilapidated apartment buildings at the end of the Ala Wai? Built around 1950, they had fallen into extreme disrepair and had become an eyesore for the area.”
“Fast forward to just a few years ago: The neighboring Watermark project bought one of the low rises to help extend their property, and extensive renovations commenced on the remaining four. The exteriors were painted and colorful landscaping was installed to create a park-like setting.”
“Two of the buildings comprise Hawaiiana Gardens and two make up Marina Gardens. The project will open to the public this Sunday, September 4, with several models available for viewing. East Oahu Realty is providing the sales team.”

Buying a Vacation Rental Home on Oahu Hawaii – Part 9
Hybrid Property Management/ Rent by Owner Relationships …………. Continued
According to an article written by a community editor at “Community from HomeAway” an online organization that deals with optimizing your vacation rental business, the following points were made:
Some property managers have it written in their contract that the owner can’t do any marketing on their own, so that’s something owners should consider when choosing which method works best. If you decide to embark upon a hybrid rent-by-owner/ property manager relationship, make sure both you and your property manager are clear on how to run things smoothly. Clearly state how much involvement your property manager will have, both verbally and in a contract. There are so many options when it comes to renting your vacation home these days. If you often feel overwhelmed or frustrated, it’s possible that your current method is not working well. After all, your vacation home is supposed to bring you peace and relaxation, not stress. Finding the best way to manage your business will put the vacation back into vacation rental.

Construction, Construction Everywhere in Waikiki
According to a recent article in the Pacific News Journal online, “Understatement of the week: Waikiki is a mess — construction-wise, I mean.”
“The City and County of Honolulu’s sidewalk-improvement project has meant seeing a good chunk of the heavily-trafficked Kalakaua Avenue walkways being ripped up to get spruced up. There’s hardly a stretch of that street where you don’t see Caterpillar construction equipment, fluorescent-vested contractors and laborers, makeshift sidewalks, tarps and fences.”
