It’s not affordable housing by typical standards, but 124 units in a 489-unit condominium tower under construction in Kakaako are being offered at below-market prices to buyers with moderate incomes.
The developer of Pacifica Honolulu rising at 1009 Kapiolani Blvd. near McKinley High School recently began accepting applications for the restricted units.

OliverMcMillan - a San Diego-based real estate development firm that develops high quality urban mixed-use retail, entertainment and residential projects – announced today that firm contracts are in place for 244 of the 365 available market-rate residential units in the Pacifica Honolulu condominium project, and the $50 million construction loan closed with First Hawaiian Bank. With the presales and financing secured, construction on the $285 million project, the largest new high-rise residential project on Oahu, started April 26 with Ledcor Construction. A ground blessing was held on March 25, 2010.

I had a handful of buyers interested in purchasing a condo at the Pacifica Condo Building in Ala Moana, Kakaako area in Honolulu, Hawaii. This was a building that was previously built as the Moana Vista, went bankrupt, and was purchased by a San Diego Developer. Believe it or not, sales were advertised to begin Saturday, 2/6/10. Lines began to form as early as Thursday, and what appeared to be a handful of units available, after previous purchasers from the Moana Vista were given first opportunity, has mostly sold out.

Magic Island – Honolulu City and Ala Moana Park by Night
Ala Moana Beach Park is one of my favorite places as it is a very quick and easy escape, located just a couple of blocks from where I live in West Waikiki.
I had the most wonderful night with a friend. When I finsihed work, I had a great idea and called a good friend. I suggested that we bring a bottle of wine, pick up some food at Ala Moana Shopping Center and cross the street to watch the sunset go down from Magic Island at Ala Moana Beach Park. My timing couldn’t have been more perfect.
